English singer songwriter Holly ‘Lapsley’ Fletcher spent the best past of her 2014 producing music that resulted in many tastemakers dubbing her a real prospect for superstardom. To little surprise, she inked a deal with heavyweight independent label XL Recordings and brought Understudy to the world at the start of 2015. The EP is a microcosm of her entire sound- delicate electronic production beneath her glasslike vocal. Packed with riches of soul and melody, the EP also has a carefully crafted edge of minimalism which makes it all the more hypnotic.
