Hamburg’s Marc Richter is a composer and artist who revels in creating work that is both challenging and mesmerising. Having set up his own imprint, scored 2012’s Earth and sporadically released glimpses of solo musical work, Black To Comm is Richter’s first proper offering since 2009’s much celebrated Alphabet 1968. This LP manages to weave thematic cohesion through tracks which explore surrealism, humanity and deliriousness boldly and carefully. With scatty vocal samples and neo-classical composition, the blind ambition of songs like 1975 and the 20 minute opus, Is Nowhere is nothing short of astounding.
