Prolific German sound artist Felix Kubin has compiled a bizarrely brilliant collection for Cache Cache and Finders Keepers, bringing together the weird and wonderful sounds of German punk and new wave pioneers from a time when they had no such sound to call their own. From the rolling percussion and droning lyrics of Dit + Uta's 'Science Fiction Park BRD', from which the compilation takes its name, to the choppy synth-led Z.S.K.A.'s 'La Surete Nr 3', it's a thrilling and education tread through a sound initially unrecognisable yet palpably familiar. The throbbing mess of sound that is 'Insekten' by Eisenhauer, Pierre Godot's drifting exploration 'Petra im spanischen Garten' and the eerily blissful 'Ohne Titel (1983-18)' by Frank Schrouder all represent a sound deserving of this spotlight.
