Knitting Factory Records publishes another outstanding reissue from the seminal back catalogue of the king of afrobeat – Fela Kuti. This live recording captures the energy and rhythm of Fela, together with his Africa ’70 live band and notably former Cream drummer Ginger Baker. In the early 70’s Baker travelled to Africa with Fela to learn about the continent's rhythms, here he joins in on the feisty, funked-up live cuts ‘Lets Start’, ‘Black Man’s Cry’, ‘Ye Ye De Smell’ and ‘Egbe Mi O (Carry Me)’ which all show the unit in particularly boisterous form. On the final cut, Fela takes a rare backseat and lets Tony Allen and Ginger go at it head to head in one of the most epic, militant, perfectly syncopated drum solos your ever likely to hear.
