Drum 'n' bass stalwart Calibre takes down the tempo for Craig Richards' The Nothing Special. Moody and murky, these two cuts have been mastered by Keith Tenniswood, aka Radioactive Man, and come on 180g vinyl for your pleasure. 'Trimming' is a lengthy jam, one that takes time to shift and grow through different modes as it plays through repeated themes. A syncopated kick rhythm keeps things moving while synth flourishes keep things charged with emotion. 'Getter Go' is darker yet faster, a crackling piano sample producing a delicately yearning effect. Two minutes in a muted jacksaw riff takes things to the floor, adding a sense of real urgency to the proceedings.
