Ed Matus, the Miami electro musician formerly known as Halo Vessel, steps up for Schematic with his first release under his given name. Matus’s sound is hyper-aggressive blend of his hometown’s signature bass, wired drum programming and cinematic synth-work right out of a sci-fi soundtrack. You can practically see the expanses of an ultramodern cityscape on opener ‘Escape From Pyramid City’, and the edgy ‘They Are All Thieves’ makes for excellent futuristic chase music. Other highlights include glitched-out ‘Scheming Trees’ and the jackhammer drum work and sinister pads on ‘Info Four’.
