South London’s Suren Seneviratne aka My Panda Shall Fly lands at Sonic Router Records with another fine EP. Higher is as varied a collection of tunes as we’ve heard from Seneviratne, showcasing a multitude of styles, tempos and textures. The sluggish VHS vibes of ‘Ark’ immediately follow ‘Haus/Transferring Sorrow’, a neon-coloured jaunt through a video-game world. ‘Groupp Mind’ is unmistakable Beat Dimensions-style hip-hop, but the hallowed-out dub of ‘Crac’ and over-compressed bounce of ‘Fish R Friends’ are much harder to identify.
