Jackson and His Computer Band returns to Warp, with label mate Hudson Mohawke in tow, for a masterclass in larger-than-life electronic exuberance. Lead track ‘G.I. Jane (Fill Me Up)’ layers mutant computer vocals over a metronomic synth-pop beat to create something delirious and cartoonish, with Jackson’s own remix emphasising the cut’s lighter aspects. ‘Vista’ is buoyed up by stabs of buzzing synth chords that are plucked straight from the ‘80s, with Hudson Mohawke re-sculpting the original into a typically euphoric slice of candy hip-hop. Freeka Tet’s remix provides a much needed breather from all the extravagance, with a glitchy, pensive take on ‘Vista’ which closes the EP poignantly.
