LIVE II is the second in a series of double albums from incredible solo percussionist Eli Keszler. Side A was recorded at Alice in Copenhagen, Denmark 03/06/2023; Side B at The Jewels of Toyama in Tokyo, Japan 25/05/2023 as part of MODE Festival.

Following on from the success of his previous LIVE cassette, which sold out in minutes, LIVE II captures the heart-in-mouth, transformative beauty of solo improvisation as well as Keszler’s complete and utter mastery of his instrument.

Across these two sides, Keszler takes us on a journey where we experience ideas and motifs being created and destroyed in real time - the listener so acutely aware that every noise heard is an intimate physical action from the artist.

ELI KESZLER QUOTE A drumset sits on the stage unaccompanied during these concerts. There is naturally an anticipation for a specific kind of music because of this, and at that a music on spec no one really wants to listen to...? I don't even really like drum solos funnily enough...

Rather than think of it as such, I'm trying to make something out of the debris of the material, something after the end of it all, whatever the dust is that is left behind. I configure the instrument with electronic triggers. It's now some kind of mutant instrument. I try and keep my materials as limited as I possibly can, that's how I conceptualise it.

As I continue to do these solo concerts new variations emerge every time I play, for a system so focused in scope it still surprises me. With such reductive material and the endless reconfiguring of a few elements I have to ask, are these concerts an ever-evolving work, or a work that never evolves? As Feldman said "I seem content to be continually rearranging the same furniture in the same room."
