Hailed by some as one of Butthole Surfers' most “tripped out” and experimental albums, Rembrandt Pussyhorse is a complete reversal on the band's debut released only two years prior. Forgoing much of their previous punk rock psychedelics without losing any of their characteristic guts, the band lean headfirst into the avant garde: gothically styled pianos and organs form the foundations for folk violin and ballistic drums to frantically unravel over, while the tracks like their rendition of The Guess Who's ‘American Woman’ take an almost plunderphonic quality with heavily filtered strums.
