On their debut for AD 93, Damsel Elysium taps into both nature's beauty and horror; not a contradiction but a cooperation between Earth, human, and the avant garde. Heavy clashes of harpsichord and woody string drones rush through roots and arboreal networks, while vocals murmur and sing their spells under the ocean's all consuming currents. Old English text transports us back through centuries on ‘Dream of the Rood’, fossilised with sludgy edits, while the EP closes with captivating expressions of double bass that quakes the undergrowth, and Damsel Elysium's vocals powerfully intoning: “You're mine.”
