Meaning “peace” in Yoruba, Àlàáfíà is the debut album from the elusive Honour. “Built & destroyed” between Lagos, London, and NYC, Àlàáfíà operates at the intersection of Seekersinternational, Hype Williams, and &&&&& era Arca, and far beyond such comparisons too. In a constantly morphing, hypnagogic sound collage, machine gun rhythms and sauntering militant snares combine with contorted saxophones and spectral keys. Mutated conversations like fleeting memories of youth wade through abstract passages of noise, lofi beats, and deep lurching ambient waters on ‘FLIR2A’, one of the album’s longest pieces which frames bass heavy vignettes both rejoicing and lamenting.
