Picking up the thread that their explosive debut Kaloli started, Nihiloxica return with an even more furious rhythmic fiesta on their second album. Source Of Denial sees producers Spooky-J and pq alongside members of Uganda’s Nilotika Cultural Ensemble kicking up storm and dust clouds in a fusion of pendulum swinging Bugandan percussion, hardcore-flavoured lasering synths and beats, and the metallic ring of Western drum kits. Whether it’s the caustic club of ‘Kudistro’ or the impressionist sequences of distorted drums and glitches thrown into the void on ‘Preloya’ and ‘Postloya’, the album’s every crevice is filled with an unfaltering sense of drive.
