Belgian label Music Man Records dusts off a landmark release of their own with this reissue of Frank De Wulf’s B-Sides Compilation. An extremely influential and early adapter of techno, De Wulf had already amassed a vast collection of songs by 1990 while playing a huge role in putting Belgium on the dance music map. His productions were sturdy and explosive, but never overwhelming and always came with plenty of swing. Tracks like ‘Electrain’ and ‘Magic Orchestra’ show a clear and crucial path between Belgium new beat, techno’s assembly-line Detroit roots and permutations it took on while crossing over the Atlantic.
