Amnesia Scanner joins forces with multidisciplinary artist Freeka Tet to issue STROBE.RIP, the Berlin-based experimental duo’s third LP overall. Created as part of an extended artistic universe that will include audio-visual work, performance art, and other future musical endeavours, STROBE.RIP introduces Tet as a full-fledged Scanner. With Tet’s inclusion comes even more sonic exploration, with the LP functioning as a kind of expedition through genres or both known and unknown prior. The phantom staircase like logic of ‘Ledge’ toys with the catch and release throb of techno while hairpin turns that jut out at weird angles over a sturdy grid, while ‘Clown’ winks at the supposedly transgressive nocturnal pop on the radio with a devilish grin that betrays actual horrors behind the veneer.
