The illustrious pioneers of shoegaze present their second post-reunion album. Since their 2017 selftitled album, Slowdive refined everything is alive for years until it was a dazzling ray showcasing the band’s capabilities. Their classic guitar thrashes blend into walls of sounds upon which dreamy vocals sit, while the upbeat pop colours of ‘kisses’ are blurred by a signature dose of reverb. Tension building synth arpeggios, solemn washes of strums, and shuffling drums patiently stepping around each other, with the heavily churning bassline and train track drums on ‘the slab’ pushing everything in a fervent drive to the finish line.
