Doing a complete 180 on her dance-focussed work, Avalon Emerson debuts with The Charm on her first full length album. During a break from her DJ career, Emerson turned her sights towards eclectic inspirations, translating her techno talents into propulsive and sparkling shades of indie pop. While shimmering 80s tinged guitars, bright cello inflections, and kaleidoscopic synths like polka dots delicately unfold across the album, Emerson doesn’t leave the dance energy behind: ‘Hot Evening’ lifts a two step rhythm from the club and drops it into a funkier, diurnal setting, as she wonders where life will take her next.
