One of two albums he has released this year, Subtle Thoughts sees Lord Of The Isles make his debut for Lapsus with an elevating mixture of soothing synth melodies, weightless deep house rhythms, and colourful electronica palettes. As the title would imply, much of the album revels in softness, with quaint, wandering notes and woozy textures, like the idyllic ‘Coco Melon’ with memories washing over. The livelier dance cuts fill the gaps, with the glittering arpeggios of ‘Return To Yourself’ producing a wistful mood over bouncing beats, and the snappy breaks of ‘Open Mode’ mimicking sea breeze.
