After a few years dropping via labels like Permanent Vacation and Mule Musiq, Lord Of The Isles has spent the last year or so focussing on the self-released DFSANT series. DFSANT03 - the third instalment, if that wasn’t obvious enough - contains four nicely psychedelic takes on classic deep house sounds. The grooves of ‘Nu Melody’ and ‘Altiplano’ are the sort of classy takes that have been the staple of NYC and central European club styles since time immemorial. Lord of the Isles’ trick is to cloak his beats in thick plumes of reverb and distort the takes just enough to give them character, but not so much that they turn to mush. It makes for a dreamy listening experience.
