Daniel Avery continues his hot streak with yet another massive LP of dark electronica for Phantasy entitled Ultra Truth. His fifth solo LP overall, Ultra Truth is both his most collaborative effort yet and his darkest. Taking influence from the metal, alt rock, and explosive club music of his youth, Avery spins guest turns from the likes of disparate voices like HAAi, AK Paul, Marie Davidson and Sherelle into a verifiable haunted house of rave adjacent noise. Tracks like ‘Devotion’ and ‘Higher’ come off like tracks from the golden era of rave music warped by jet engine exhaust, there’s a white-knuckled tension applied to the tracks less suited for dancefloors as well. It all presents a thrilling challenge to new listeners and heads alike: Ultra Truth may be Avery’s most defiant statement yet.
