Music For Photographers is meant as a literal exercise: this is music explicitly made to listen to while visiting a new location. The Black Dog also created their latest record in conjunction with a series of photographs (collected in a book titled ‘Brutal Sheffield’), stating that the process of editing photos from rough ideas informed how they pieced together the music. The tracks ‘Pho-Kuss’ and Re-Pho-Kuss’ in particular speak to the connection between the visual art and sonics that continue to inspire these ambient masters, over three decades on.
