12th Isle presents Brace/Mend by Lucy Duncombe, two fresh tracks from the vocalist and performance artist based in Glasgow. Mastered and cut to 10” by Irish artist Morgan Buckley (who created cult classic record Shout Out To All The Weirdos In Rathmines), it’s two tracks exploring theatrical vocal transposition and layering amongst machine-driven output. A-side ‘Brace is a slow-burning composition showcasing Duncombe’s celestial tones, swimming in an ocean of melancholia-driven synthetic chords. The B-side ‘Mend’ moves at a similarly unhurried pace with a more avant-garde approach, forming a kind of oddball pop paean loaded up with swerving melodic flourishes.
