Late Serbian producer Mitar “Suba” Subotić was poised to become one of his adopted Brazilian home’s most prominent musical figures until his untimely passing in 1999. Since then, the breadth of his versatile forays into acid jazz, Latin music and ambient music have found themselves a new audience. The 23-minute minimal soundscape ‘Fool For Love’, which appears under Suba’s Rex Ilusivii moniker, showcases his ability to create amniotic spaces with sound, twinging every synthesised swell with an unsayable hint of melancholia.
