Japanese producer Hakushi Hasegawa returns to the Brainfeeder label for a new LP entitled Mahōgakkō. A neat fit into the west coast bred heady experimentalism of the Brainfeeder family despite the physical separation between them, Hasegawa is as hard to pin down as ever on Mahōgakkō. Detours into electronica, alt rock, and J-pop keep listeners on their toes, while collaborators like Sam Wilkes and KID FRESINO add dashes of ambient and hip-hop textures to their well-established psych jazz sonic mould to great effect, as well.
