Ilian Tape’s ITX series looks to another stand-out UK talent in Etch, who builds on a rock solid discography of dancefloor fire for labels like Sneaker Social Club, Soundman Chronicles and Wisdom Teeth. The Zenker Brothers’ white label series broadens the scope of the Munich-based imprint, taking in shades of UK garage, dubstep, hiphop and jungle. Polarity is all about the drums. Etch knows his way around a breakbeat, turning in six variations on a laser-sharp formula. There’s a tense beatless cut, a trap-style hi-hat rhythm and plenty of rude basslines, all cut from a cloth of forward-thinking beat science and rhythmic syncopation.
