The first transmission from the newly-minted label of Paul Wise, AKA UK dance music lifer Placid, offers a wide-ranging set of A-game material from four artists who share similar musical ideals to Scott himself. The opening gambit comes from 303 wizard Tin Man, whose ‘Jerkin Acid’ does exactly what it says on the… tin. Derek Carr and Posthuman offer up lush slices of deep house, before Dircsen weaves a gorgeous acid melody around a smooth, syncopated beat on ‘Last Spare.’ To anyone who has followed Placid since the ‘90s, the sounds on We’re Going Deep will be both familiar and forward-thinking, a brilliantly-curated package from a true pioneer.
