With “My Own Imaginary World” Rachel Lyn presents a home for her unique works of intimate sonic exploration. Musically focusing on art noise, conceptual, ambient, soundtracks, objects and spaces; the imprint facilitates room for creative freedom and improvisational tonal translations of Rachel’s emotions and imaginations: real artistic rawness combined with modern romanticism.

“Oh Daydream”, Rachel Lyn's debut album release, introduces her on a personal and sonic level, the blooming of years of introverted development.

While rushing through modern capitalist times in which slowing down and deceleration are considered loan words, our mind is constantly strained and focused on fast production under industrial eyes. It’s all about delivering. On the other hand, we absorb a bunch of different information, we binge content on a daily basis, on the streets, on our mobile phones, on the TV. Often we tend to forget our productive imagination, because the culture industry already provides everything desired for us. But there is a desire in everyone for a space that provides habitual liberation. The need for space to temporarily escape these structures are realised mentally and spatially. A playground where we can just hang out and be while calling for our imagination. The production process of “Oh Daydream” perfectly provided such a space. A space, inspired by her own inner child and the purity of her imagined worlds, evolved out of her aesthetic needs. Indeed, addressing her inner child and the indefinite imagination felt mandatory in order to deeply express and explore her artistic subjectivity.

Deep bass and klangerous spaces accompany haunting vocals to construct captivating atmospheres of a timeless aesthetic for contemporary escapism, as well as her own personal escapism - sleepless nights in a far flung studio with her modular synthesizer, and a close affection for her spring reverb.

The narrative behind the creational process of “Oh Daydream” sounds like a post-romantic story as it works with similar characteristics of the romantic epoch such as the reference to the individual fantastic projection aka the imaginary process. While romanticists employed this process of romancing as a motor to create fantastic worlds that would have the liberating power in form of an emancipation from predominant classic traditions, Rachel too addresses her imaginary potential to freely create a fantastic world outside of genre conventions. Every track consists of an individual inventive process. Like the romantic authors who distanced themselves from classical traditions and focused on their own subjectivity, the tracks serve as rooms to escape traditions and destruct common truths. Thus, Rachel takes the listeners of “Oh Daydream” on a trip to her own internal space, where her identity is given the freedom to fully unfold.

“Oh Daydream” is an audio-visual album, tracks are accompanied by videos, a collaboration with the Paris based photographer and video artist David Paige. David’s imagery narrates an intimate poetry of Rachel’s physical expression, adding a further dimension to the sonic journey.

Inspired by a youth spent in the ambiance of endless VHSs, early 70s electronic pioneers, her classical ballet vinyl collection and theatrical baroque gowns, she experiments and explores sonic possibilities on the basis of both improvisational and intimate workflows. The album presents itself almost as a personal sonic diary consisting of a somnambulant atmosphere, spoken words and expressionistic aesthetic.
