DJ Gunnar Wendel goes by many names, but it’s been a long while since we’ve seen him release under his Seltene Erden moniker. For the first time since 2011, Seltene Erden is revived for the geological sonic musings of Scorched Earth, an LP of shimmering ambient textures and subtly rhythmic impasses. Imagine what a hidden cave on the other side of a distant planet might sound like; ‘Mythril Shard’ pops and pangs with acoustic-electronic percussion, matched by a crystalline arp, while ‘Twinkling Titanite’ slowly morphs from a tentative swell to a rolling drip of gleaming leads.
