After a number of years in the hazy wilderness, Berlin-based self-styled “additive synthesist” and composer Max Loderbauer returns to Non Standard Productions with another set of ghostly electronic avant-garde compositions. As is Loderbauer’s special skill set, Donnerwetter oscillates between stuttering electronics — such as those that haunt ‘Nebel’, ‘Remove’ and ‘Green’ — and drones both abyssal and bright, which serve to both lower and elevate the tones of ‘18 Month’, ‘Lichtmeer’ and ‘Sub’.
