The Wachaga LP finds Israeli artist Kutiman taking an array of field recordings he made in Tanzania and fashioning his typically globalised brand of trippy plunderphonics with the raw material. These tracks bring together the sounds of his trip with rolling library-funk grooves, fusion-jazz textures and that fervently psychedelic edge which runs through so much of Kutiman’s output. The result is a record which ends up somewhere between Khruangbin and African Head Charge.
