After scaring the life out of us on the first SFORMATOR instalment back in Spring 2019, Black Merlin is back to unsettle us again with the second drop in the series. Whereas SFORMATOR 1 stuck to techno tempo, the three tracks here are slower, something that gives them a lumbering feel not dissimilar to G36. These doomy grooves are strangely hypnotic, though the jagged shards of noise that periodically cut through the textures always break you out of whatever stupor you’ve fallen into.
