Garland, the collaborative project of Glaswegian artist Simon Weins and Cologne DJ Phillip Jondo, yields its second LP. The sound world that Garland conjures on 2 is a dense fog of industrial techniques, dubwise atmospherics and electroacoustic exploration. J. G. Biberkopf’s push-pull sonics are brought to mind on cuts like ‘Candy.Blp’ and ‘Tom.Pt’, while the way ‘Eps.Ans’ and ‘Gar.Ske’ bend digi-dub into unfamiliar shapes is reminiscent of Bristol’s Young Echo collective.
