Turin-based collective SPIME.IM come through with a visceral brand of electronic composition on the Exaland LP. This is a record that recalls the end-of-days frenzies of artists like Mana, Ben Frost and even Arca. The way in which all manner of digital sounds smash together at furious speed draws from IDM, deconstructed club music and avant-garde composition. There are also moments - ‘Exaland VI’, ‘Exaland ‘XII’ - where Exaland descends into crushes of noise and distortion.
