Those who copped Studio Barnhus’ 2018 compilation Volym 1 will probably already have taken a shine to Off The Meds - the group’s slick track ‘Currency Low’ was an early highlight of that record. A South African-Swedish quartet operating out of Stockholm, Off The Meds grab the bull by the horns on their first solo release. ‘Belter’ more than lives up to its name, mixing somber rave synths with a scuttling breakbeat in a manner that recalls some of the best Whities drops. Kamohelo Khoaripe’s spoken vocals bring great atmosphere to the tune - think Maxi Jazz or Mike Skinner. The Belter EP is fleshed out by the acapella and a Joy O remix that blends dub techno with influences from gqom and township funk.
