The Arabstazy project seeks to celebrate the best in electronic composition from across the Arab world and Arab diaspora. From its bases in Tunis, Paris and Berlin, Arabstazy has built a network of artists who are shaping their own narratives while remaining faithful to their respective histories. The first of Arabstazy’s three Under Frustration LPs, released via InFiné, proves a powerful and compelling compilation. Here we find artists seizing the reigns of techno, hip-hop, IDM, drone and many other electronic styles before twisting them into bold new shapes. Highlights include the French-Tunisian artist Mettani bending juke to his will on ‘Anubiya’ and Aya Metwalli’s ethereal future-r ‘n’ b cut, ‘Lugere’.
