Beware Of Shells is a typically arresting collection that blurs the boundary between experimental techno and sound design. For instance ‘Incisors’ and the Deathday remix ‘Sister’ are both built on minimal techno foundations which are offset by all manner of abrasive textures in the mids and treble. Meanwhile the title track whirrs and sputters in a manner that obliquely recalls Eliane Radigue. Elsewhere on the record ‘The Swelling’ is weightless and eerie, while closer ‘Pecking Order’ takes the reigns from Wendy Carlos’ ‘Beauty In The Beast’.
