Rrose returns with two compositions indebted in equal parts to underground techno and ambient experimentalism. Having seen James Tenney perform Having Never Written A Note For Percussion in Washington DC, Rrose was struck by the sheer ambition and herculean manipulation of sound. His take on the behemoth takes it to over 30 minutes with the A-side providing an intimate, almost inward interpretation of the piece and the live recording on the flipside bringing together all the velocity and grandeur of the original. A significant achievement in terms of the scope of composition and reinterpretation and a prime example of why Rrose is considered to be one of electronica’s most intriguing and unique figures.
