After drops featuring artists such as Lanark Artefax, BFTT and Koehler, the fourth split-EP in Whities Blue series pairs debutant E-Talking with Ilian Tape/Mistry/Timedance badboy Laksa. Both offer up hard-wired techno numbers here, though the way they go about their business differs somewhat. E-Talking is in combative mode on ‘Telephone Rose’. The combination of dystopian robonaut vocals, low-slung groove and a dubby bassline turns the track into an arresting DJ tool. On the flipside, Laksa slows the pace down a little for ‘It Feels Like I’ve Been Here Before’. With its lackadaisical ‘Amen Break’ and buoyant bassline this is classic fare from one of the main proponents of soundsystem techno.
