For her third LP - and first on Mexican Summer (Ariel Pink, Kurt Vile) - Jess Williamson left her native Texas for California. She also found love, and she’s keen to let everyone know about it. Cosmic Wink is an evocative LP full of Byrds-y jangles and Angel Olsen-style dreaminess. The sounds of classic Americana backbone these nine songs. At times Williamson summons them to dark and stormy ends - you can generally identify these instances by the track titles (‘Wild Rain’, ‘Thunder Song’). But at other points - ‘Forever’, ‘Love On The Piano’ - Williamson lets her worries fall away as she gazes up at the stars to contemplate love and life.
