Following promising releases on labels such as Handsome Dad Records, Kyle Molleson makes the move to Secretly Canadian for his first LP as Makeness. Loud Patterns kicks off with the effervescent title track, a combination of screeching noise and plush techno that is pitched somewhere between Modeselektor and Joe Goddard. Many of the other cuts here - ‘Rough Moss’, ‘Day Old Death’, ‘Stepping Out Of Sync’ - work along similar lines, while there is also some gorgeous Unknown Mortal Orchestra-esque indie-soul in the form of ‘Fire Behind The Two Louis’. An original and impressive debut full-length.
