Brooklyn’s Dub-Stuy Records have given us a bit of a gem here. The first in a series of collaborative EPs from the label slaps LA Afrofuturist Ras G and Parisian soundsystem scholar Moresounds on the same slab of wax. Both contribute two tracks each, and the pair’s music plays off each other very well indeed. Ras G continues to screwball influences of dub, hip-hop and spiritual jazz in a unique manner. Both ‘Gorilla Glue’ and ‘Global Shit-uation’ have the potential to melt the minds of those in the dance. Moresounds complements G with his more nimble, energetic production style. ‘We A Tribe’ and ‘Deep Base’ are jungle-tempo workouts, with the latter a particularly natty bit of d&b.
