Hyetal’s about-face from dubstepper to electro-crooner continues apace on this new EP. Run From The Light works with many of the same tools as last year’s Youth & Power LP. Indeed, the re-rub of that album’s ‘Near Water’ is even more idiosyncratic and evocative than the original, recalling both inc. and Clams Casino before breaking into a hybrid of futurist r&b and deconstructed jungle. The title track, sitting somewhere between Maxwell’s ‘This Woman’s Work’ and Daft Punk’s ‘Something About Us’, is unlike anything Hyetal has done before.
