Released by Idle Hands earlier this year, Piezo’s Lume EP saw the Italian producer embracing the sounds of his adoptive Bristolian home to create tracks that took in (minimal) techno, jungle, dancehall and ambient. As such, Swamp81 sublabel 81 makes sense as the home for Piezo’s next drop. The four tracks of this self-titled EP see the producer leaning harder into the dance than he has done previously. ‘Keera’ and ‘Rash’ will both test the cones of whatever bassbin you have to hand, with the former a particularly nimble production that recalls Hessle’s Joe. Elsewhere ‘El Sangre’ is a wheezy almost-banger that will pose a conundrum to adventurous DJs, and ‘Fkn Intercom’ is the sort of hollowed-out UK Funky that Loefah’s label has given us plenty of down the years.
