History will remember William Eggleston best as a pioneer of colour photography, but the 78-year-old has also been a lifelong music-maker who was once described by Memphis magazine as ‘almost as wrapped up in his music as he is in his photography’. His debut LP contains a series of recordings made in the 1980s, the bulk of which are improvisations with Eggleston at his synthesizer. These takes have both a widescreen and intimate quality, with the cinematic tones of the keyboards punctuated by hurdy-gurdy rhythms and beautiful threads of melody.
