The Jazz Diaries presents its second EP from rising vocalist Jitwam. The four tracks across TJD006 demonstrate a versatile producer and singer whose sound skirts the edges of house, r&b and Brainfeeder-style hip-hop. Most immediate here is opener ‘whereyougonnago?’, a cut that sees Jitwam’s breezy vocals cresting over a lo-fi house roller akin to Palms Trax. The two tracks that follow, ‘yyy’ and ‘Thejit’, are notable for their heavily swung beats ala Madlib or Karriem Riggins, though the spacey synths and meandering vocals bring the overall feel closer to Archy Marshall’s A New Place To Drown. Things close out with the weightless ambience of ‘U’.
