The legendary DMX Krew turns up on 7777 with a solid four tracker of banging acid house and funk styles! Edward Upton continues on his journey as DMX Krew with a new EP for Detroit’s 7777 (Jared Wilson, Todd Osborn). 013 manages to be simultaneously hi-NRG and somewhat detached, perhaps something to do with Upton’s impeccable ear for arrangement that allows every element the necessary space to do its thing. ‘My Work’ and ‘I’ll Make You Jack’ are slightly retro-flavoured house jams that see 303s working against rugged grooves and, in the case of the former, some gorgeous melodies. The other two cuts turn up the acid, particularly closer ‘Flap Clanger’.
