Psychsters Flowers Must Die tap into a fertile strain of Swedish hard rock for their latest full-length. Now on the Rocket Recordings roster with fellow Scandinavian freakout merchants Goat, one finds plenty of shared ground between the two. The pummelling, insistent riffs and wacky pedal work will be reminiscent of Hawkwind and Blue Öyster Cult to British ears. However, the band also take cues from early-70s Swedish acts Träd, Gräs och Stenar or Älgarnas Trädgård in their free-form approach to psych-rock, bringing in a range of influences to keep things fresh. Just check the groovy disco beat on the aptly titled ‘Hit’.
