Phon.o Returns to BPitch with a triple threat EP. Opening with the entrancingly driving ‘Run’, whose electro tinged Detroit strings rivet the intensity firmly to the post, while cloudy synths vacuum atmospherically in the fore. ‘Brooklyn Shuffle’ comes swinging like UK garage while also bringing melodies from classic era New York, scattered with vocal chops to keep the heat in. ‘Fractions’ dims the mood to a brooding melancholia. Gently shuffling breaks and meandering chords make way for the neatly FXed vocals, simply outlining their potential. It’s an effective collection of tracks with true variety.
