Noisy London alt-rock group Savages return with their second album, shaking off some of the Banshees-revivalist tendencies of their debut in favour of something a little more exploratory and a little less self-serious. Strip away the fuzz and feedback of their songs and you’ll see that Savages are classicists, and Adore Life features some really well-crafted rock songs: ‘T.I.W.Y.G.’ is an energetic song that doesn’t take itself too seriously, its goofy lyrics knowingly acknowledged by the laughter track embedded at the end of the song, while ‘Adore’ is pure arena fodder that suggests Savages have a bigger future ahead of them.
