Colorado Springs’ Winston Yellen returns to the Night Beds moniker with a wholly different sonic outlook to the one exercised on his debut. 2013’s Country Sleep was a folk-infused indie LP driven by melody and straightforward songwriting. On this followup, he joins the ranks of The Weeknd, How To Dress Well and PARTYNEXTDOOR with a brand of starry-eyed R&B grappling with themes of finality and unrequited romance. The light and airy sounds of Tide Teeth, the rich instrumentation of Corner, Yellen even calls upon a Drake sample on Finished- a foray in to space-age R&B songwriting which he pulls off effortlessly.
